Weaverham Forest Street win High 5 Netbell Festival

A humdinger of a High 5 Netball Festival results in a Weaverham Forest Street win

The annual Year 5 & 6 High 5 Netball festival took place at Rudheath High Leisure Centre on Thursday 6th Dec 2012. Local primary schools came together to compete against each other for the title of High 5 Netball Champions and the honour of representing the cluster in the next stage of the competition.

The competition was made up of Witton Church Walk, Weaverham Forest Street, Crowton and Sandiway (who entered 2 teams). Each match under the confident umpiring of three Year 11 Weaverham High School pupils was closely fought, competitive but more importantly played in a fantastic spirit. The action was end to end which gave the coaches and supporters much to cheer about. As the festival progressed so did the pupils confidence levels which resulted in some fantastic team and individual performances.

At the end with many red faces looking on the results of the festival were delivered. In 5th place was Witton Church Walk, in 4th place Sandiay B, in 3rd position Sandiway A, in second position Crowton and the winners were Weaverham Forest Street. They remained undefeated throughout their 4 matches with 3 wins and a draw, basing their success on positive attacking play and sound defending.

There team manager Sue Morris said ”This was the first time the children from Weaverham Forest Primary School had experienced playing High Five Netball and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The tournament was very well organised and the High School pupils were patient and efficient umpires! Thank you to everyone involved”
